Woke up this morning after our night of wild camping, to find we were surrounded by cattle on one side and sheep on the other. I think they were hoping for some breakfast!
Reluctantly set off about 9.45am, from our idylic spot, and not long after Inverkirkaig saw a sign for the Falls of Kirkaig, which was a 5 mile hike. Seemed like a good idea for a Sunday morning so off we go. Took us 2 hours over quite rocky terrain which Taz coped with very well, as some of the rocks were twice her size!
Treated ourselves to a well earned coffee and scone at a strange cafe/ book shop near the car park.
Rock Cllimbing Tazo
A not so friendly local!
Continued along what is known as the "mad road of Sutherland" and arrived in Ullapool, which seems like a busy, vibrant harbour town where you can get a ferry to Stornoway (not that we plan to do that). There is a golf course here so we will probably stay a couple of days if the weather is good. It started to rain when we arrived here at about 3pm and has not stopped since.
The sunset last night was not that great. but tonight, despite the rain, it looks promising.
