Bettyhill Beach
Durness Campsite
Another bright morning, but rather breezy. Caught the 11am ferry from Stromness to Scrabster, where Ross took the opportunity to have a full english in the on board restaurant (I had a piece of toast)! Went past St Johns head, highest vertical cliff in the British Isles, and Old Man of Hoy, a famous climbing stack.
Headed west, and once we got past Melvich, the scenery was some of the best we have seen. Rolling hills, moorland, glens, lochs, fantastic white sand beaches and hardly a car to be seen. We were going to wild camp, but in the end came to Durness site where at about 5pm we had the most ferocious thunderstorm. It has now stopped, although it still looks very grey, so we are going to venture out with the Tazo.
